Kris was one of five nominees chosen by the organization. She will present her 2 minute video on the LGBT movement at their annual fundraising Gala on April 11thwhere guests will vote on their favorite. The winning filmmaker/journalist will be asked to expand their video into a 20 minute documentary to be broadcast nationally on NBC.
Kris Byrnes is a North Carolina native now working in NYC. Her recently completed undergraduate thesis film, “Bind”, focuses on human rights in a dystopian society. Politically influenced themes are evident in much of her work.
Kris spent a year as a videographer/editor in the New 42nd St. Apprentice program, where her interest in documentary and non-narrative subject matters were cultivated. She has since started working as an Assistant Editor with the international health and wellness channel, Veria, and plans to continue her work within both fields while still writing politically charged films.
