New Play by Brian Ackley

Congratulations to One Way partner Brian Ackley for writing and directing the Avery Elementary PTO stage play, "Play-Ger-Ism," which opens tonight, March 1st, at Steger Auditorium in Webster Groves, MO. The Avery PTO play is an Avery Elementary tradition that spans 64 years. Parents, teachers, and staff come together annually to write, direct, produce, build, paint, crew, and perform full-length plays for the community of Webster Groves.

This year's show is about a 5th grader who is accused of plagiarizing the work of famous classical authors. Maser Bobbie Bicker is brought to the Superior Court of Avery Elementary where the Webster Groves Board of Education hears the school's case against him. Prosecuting attorney Cassandra Claire, an ambitious lawyer and devoted reader, brings famous dead writers back to life to testify on behalf of their work while defense attorney, Steve Dale, a know-it-all know-nothing half-wit, does his worst to defend the accused and protect him from the infamously dreadful detention chair.

Brian's connection with Avery Elementary is through the Adventure Club, where he facilitates various activities including video production, improv, journalism, and photography.

"Play-Ger-Ism” is being produced by Terri Thompson.
