Local Filmmakers Making International Waves

Married filmmakers Ashley Sabin & David Redmond are making a name for themselves under the title of their production company, Carnivalesque Films, where they produce stories united by the raw and startling sensibilities of transgression, spectacle, and variations of fiction and nonfiction.

Their latest documentary, Night Labor, premiering at the Visions of Reality International Film Festival, follows a forty-six year old 6'6" Downeaster during his transition from an independent and rugged clam digger by day to manning a factory at night.

Their award-winning film, Girl Model (2011), showed at dozens of film festivals around the world and continues to screen on campuses and in communities throughout the country.

Having completed a total of 8 feature-length documentaries, Carnivalesque has screened their films in Sundance, SXSW, Toronto, Tribeca, Hot Docs, Human Rights Watch, IDFA, CPH: DOX, Rome, and the Museum of Modern Art. The Sundance Channel, Documentary Channel, Link TV, Free Speech TV, NHK, Current, Scandinavian, New Zealand, European, Middle Eastern, and Australian television stations have broadcast their films.

Night Labor will screen at the Visions of Reality International Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland, April 19-26, 2013.  To learn more about Carnivalesque Films, visit http://carnivalesquefilms.com/
