Joe, the Thespian

Similar to Ed Burns, director Joe Swanberg not only finds inspiration behind the lens, but also occasionally in front of it. While each and every one of Swanberg's features have premiered at SXSW and gone on to official releases, several other films where he is appearing as an actor have not. Here are some lesser known films for you to look up where Joe appears as an actor:

Hohokam
Completed in mid 2007
Premieres at Harvard Film Archive and Dallas Video Festival.
Premieres internationally at the Corona Cork Film Fest in Ireland.
Is included in the historic IFC series New Talkies.
Released with assistance from Indiepix.

More info at the site for Hohokam HERE.

The Mountain, The River and The Road
Despite a cast of familiar NewTalkies faces that included Justin Rice and Tipper Newton, the film was rejected from Sarasota Film Festival (much to the filmmaker's noted disappointment).
Premieres earlier this year in March at the alternative Sarasota Fringe Film Festival. Goes on to play Sidewalk Festival in Birmingham, AL.
Playing the festival circuit, still no word on release.

Present Company

The first Frank Ross film to premiere at SXSW in 2008.
